Who Can Apply

Eligible applicants

The call for proposal is intended for organisations involved in the development and implementation of high-quality nature-based carbon projects:

  • Local or international non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
  • Indigenous Peoples, and Local Communities (IPLCs)
  • Project developer
  • Forestry and agricultural companies
  • Cooperatives
  • Other entities with the respective expertise.

Requirements

Applicants must meet a set of requirements, which include:

  • Demonstration of a) technical and financial competence and experience at a level comparable to the proposed project and b) a track record of managing large projects to achieve measurable outcomes. Thus, on the ground capacities are key.
  • The ability to start project activities on short-term, e.g. towards the end of the second quarter 2025.
  • The applicant shall be directly responsible for the preparation and implementation of the (grant) project and not act as an intermediary for a third party.
  • Be authorised under relevant national laws to receive charitable contributions, including from sources outside their respective countries.
  • The project shall also pursue a recognition according to the Art 6. of the Paris Agreement, as far as this is feasible in the national context.
  • Work closely with national stakeholders, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities, and with the consent and all required authorisations from the government, and traditional authorities when working with Indigenous Peoples.
  • Have prior experience in the application of robust environmental and social safeguard policies during implementation of projects.
